KB Article #PDT162 – Unable to run CompressionInsight

Issue:

After installing CompressionInsight and selecting tags to run, nothing happens.  In the Engine Log, the follwoing error appears:

System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x8004042F): Failed to update point attribute(s) on server.  [-10006] Value too big or Subscript Over Range   at PISDK.PointAttribute.set_Value(Object ret)
at PDT.OSIsoft.Point.SetExceptionDev(Single _value, Single _percentage, TimeSpan _min, TimeSpan _max)
at PDT.OSIsoft.PointHistorian.StartCollection(Point _p)
2012.05.25 08:44:37 [4] WARN  ServerBase – 8:44:37 AM  Problem starting snapshot collection – retrying – 0 (max 30 retries)
2012.05.25 08:44:37 [15] INFO  ServerBase – 8:44:37 AM  <PI Tag name>  Exception Dev has changed..  Tag recommendations are now invalid.

Resolution:

  1. Exclude all tags from CompressionInsight
  2. Complete the solution from OSIsoft.com KB Article # 2786OSI8
  3. Re add tags to CompressionInsight
